Children of William Earl and Willie Grace (Chapple) Bowman
Norwood Chapple "Jim" Bowman (1906-1996)
Nowood Chapple "Jim" Bowman was born 26 Apr 1906 in Pennsylvania. He was named Norwood because of his mother's fondness for that area of Cincinnati (actually a city within a city). Jim had the Bowman blue eyes and good looks that seemed to run in the family.
Jim married Margaret Garnet Soyez, the daughter of John Jacob and Alena A. "Annie" (Ware) Soyez. They had two children: Aileen Grace Bowman, born 28 Feb 1931, and William Earl Thomas Bowman, born 13 Apr 1933. Aileen married Eugene Joseph Pohlman 7 Apr 1951 and they had five children. She died 12 Feb 2008 and is buried in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Montgomery, Hamilton County, Ohio. William married three times. First, to Doris Jeanne Horner, with whom he had three children. After her death in 1975, he married Shirley J. Ritchie McLaughlin 10 Jun 1979. His third marriage was to Gloria E. Coughen 14 Feb 1981, but he was granted a divorce from her three years later. William died 23 Mar 1992 in Columbiana County, Ohio. He is buried in Greenfield Cemetery, Greenfield, Highland County, Ohio. Jim was the Police Captain for the Madeira Police Department, retiring from there in 1971. He died 17 Apr 1996 and is buried in Rest Haven Memorial Park in Evendale, Hamilton County, Ohio, with his parents. Margaret "Garnet" died 23 Feb 2004 and is buried in Rest Haven beside him. Her parents are there, as well. |

Dorothy Lee Bowman (1920-1943)
Dorothy Lee Bowman was born 20 May 1920 in Norwood, Hamilton County, Ohio. She was nine years younger than her next oldest sibling and the only girl.
Dorothy was quite talented on the piano, like her mother. Unfortunately, like her father, Dorothy battled Juvenile Diabetes. She married Francis J. "Frank" Cole, son of Jasper and Martha (Meyers) Cole, 4 Jul 1940 in Hamilton County, Ohio. Frank was in the service and gone much of the time, so Dorothy continued to live with her parents. Tragedy struck Dec 1943. Christmas morning, Dorothy developed pneumonia and was rushed to the hospital. Unconscious on arrival, possibly due to a diabetic coma, she passed away 26 Dec 1943 at the age of 23y 7m 6d. She is buried in Rest Haven Memorial Park alongside her parents. |
