Johann Baptist Morand was *baptised 8 Jun 1783 in Wyhl, Emmendingen, Baden-Wurttemburg, Germany.  He was the son of Johann Nepomuk Morand and Katharina Oeschger.

*As you work back in time, especially in other countries, it is not unusual to find records that contain dates of baptism or christening, but not birth.

Johann married Maria Eva Kerzenmacher 14 Sep 1818 in Wyhl, Emmendingen, Baden-Wurttemberg, Germany.

His profession was Weaver.  Maria's last name means "Candle Maker".

They had six known children:

-Fidel Morand was baptised 24 Apr 1819 in Wyhl, Emmendingen, Baden-Wurttemberg, Germany, and died on the journey to Colonia Tovar with his parents and siblings in 1843. 

-Katharina Morand was baptised 22 Oct 1820.

-Barbara Morand was baptised 25 Oct 1821.

-Rosalia Morand was baptised 2 Oct 1823 and died 16 Oct 1833, both in Wyhl, Emmendingen, Baden-Wurttemberg, Germany.

-Petronella Morand was baptised 29 May 1829 in Wyhl, Emmendingen, Baden-Wurttemberg, Germany.  In the 1900 Census, she stated that she immigrated to America in 1831 when she would have been 2 and had been here 69 years.  This seems unlikely as she made the journey from Germany to Venezuela with her parents in 1843; it is unknown when she left there.  She married Wilhelm Flick and had at least one child, William Henry Flick.  Petronella died 27 Sep 1913 in Louisville, Jefferson County, Kentucky, and is buried in St Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Jasper, Dubois County, Indiana.

Johann died 28 Jul 1843 in Tovar, Aragua, Venezuela.  His wife, Maria Eva, also died in Tovar in 1852.
