Johan Heinrich Luttmann was born in 1816 in Rulle, Niedersachsen, Germany. He departed Germany from the port of Bremen and arrived in the port of Baltimore, Maryland, 9 Oct 1848, on the ship Teresa.
Around 1850, Johan Heinrich married Mary Anna Apmann. She and Johan Heinrich had at least six children together.
-Mary Elizabeth Luttmann was born Dec 1857 in Indiana. In later life, records indicate that she was blind and lived with her mother until her mother's death in 1910. Elizabeth Mary died 30 Jan 1924 at the age of 64 and is buried in Sec. 6, Lot 1389, in Mother of God Cemetery in Fort Wright.

The 1860 Census shows Johan Heinrich at age 40 (incorrect, but this is not uncommon, especially with any kind of language barrier) living with his family in Lawrenceburg, Dearborn County, Indiana. He works as a Shoemaker.
-Joseph Luttmann was born about 1860 in Indiana. Although the 1880 Census shows him at age 21, he is not with the family in the 1860 Census, indicating he was born after the enumeration date of 1 Jun 1860. Joseph died 5 Nov 1899 in Covington, Kenton County, Kentucky, and is buried in Mother of God Cemetery, Fort Wright, Kenton County, Kentucky.
-Elizabeth Mary "Marie" Luttmann was born Apr 1862 in Indiana and is a twin to Anna Luttmann. She married Charles A. Bergman and had five children with him: Harry, Josephine, Louis, Minnie, and Freda. The removed to the area of Jacksonville, Duval County, Florida.

She thinks the source was her grandmother Edna Cornelius, sister to the baby in the photo. Anna Margaret was previously identified as Elizabeth Mary (Luttmann) Bergman, her twin.
-Anna Luttmann was born Apr 1862 in Indiana and is a twin to Elizabeth Mary. She married Warren Cornelius in 1885 and they had at least two children together. Anna Olivia was born 18 Sep 1885 and died 22 Jan 1958. Edna Isabell was born 4 Feb 1889 and died 25 Feb 1971. Warren died in 1889 and Anna died about 1902.
In June 1865, Johan Heinrich is listed on the Tax List for Lawrenceburg, Dearborn County, Indiana. It is thought that the family moved to Covington shortly after this.
-Josephine C. Luttmann was born in 1865 in Indiana, although by 1900 she was listed as having been been born in 1871. Census records indicate she married Charles Curtis in 1886, although a Marriage Record reflects that they were married 19 Nov 1903. They had one child, Dr. Chester Curtis (25 Oct 1890 - 25 Feb 1925). They also adopted Audrey McDonald Curtis (19 Jan 1910 - 30 Mar 1995), biological daughter of John McDonald and Edna Isabell Cornelius, her niece.
Searches to locate Johan Heinrich and his family during the 1870 Census have proven fruitless.
The 1880 Census shows Johan Heinrich at age 63 living with his family at 332 Philadelphia Street in Covington, Kenton County, Kentucky. He continues in his profession as Shoemaker.
Johan Heinrich died 2 Apr 1888 of Gangrene of the Lungs in Kenton County, Kentucky. He is buried in Mother of God Cemetery in Fort Wright, Kenton County, Kentucky.
