Reuben Rue was born in 1812 in Hamilton County, Ohio. He married Sarah "Sally" Wiggins 12 Mar 1835 in Hamilton County, Ohio. Reuben was a Farmer for most of his life.
Their son Sidney (profiled above) was born 6 Aug 1836.
Their daughter Mary was born 18 Jan 1839. At age 23, she married John K. Boyd, son of Roland and Amanda Smith Boyd 26 Jul 1862 in Clermont County, Ohio. John was a Farmer and he and Mary had three children: Charles Mortimer Boyd, George W. Boyd, and Thomas Boyd. They were residents of Clermont County, living in Miami Township and then later in Jackson Township (close to Williamsburg). Mary moved to Symmes Township in Hamilton County sometime after the death of John to live with her son, Charles, and his family. John died 24 Jun 1896 at age 58 and Mary 27 Nov 1923 at age 84; both are buried in Williamsburg Cemetery along with their son, George.
The next child born to Reuben and Sally was Elizabeth on 29 Jan 1840. Elizabeth married William Davis 22 Oct 1862 in Clermont County and the family eventually headed west. Daughters Lulu, Sally, Ella, and Clara were all born in Ohio; son Frank was born in Illinois. Elizabeth died 31 Jul 1915 in Eldon, Mason County, Washington. She is buried in Keosauqua, Van Buren County, Iowa. It is unknown where or when William died.
The 1840 Census shows Reuben living in Symmes Township, Hamilton County, Ohio. His family is enumerated with him, but only he is named as Head of Household. Names of family members were not listed until the 1850 Census; relationships were not listed until the 1880 Census.
Son Weldon was born in Jul 1844. Weldon was a confirmed bachelor until his marriage at the age of 59 in Hamilton County, Ohio, 6 Mar 1904, to Selina Hoes, widow of John H. Rawlings. John H. Rawlings died in May 1896 and is buried in Armstrong Chapel Cemetery in Indian Hill, Hamilton County, Ohio. Weldon died just three years after his marriage on 4 Jun 1907; Selina followed 30 Sep 1941. Weldon had no children of his own, but Selina had eight children from her previous marriage and most of them are buried in Rose Hill Cemetery in Mason, Warren County, Ohio, along with Weldon and Selina.
Daughter Anna was born 9 Jan 1846 and died 9 Oct 1865 at the age of 19. She is bured in Williamsburg Cemetery, Clermont County, Ohio.
Reuben and Sally's youngest child, Helena, was born 14 Jul 1850. She went by many names including Lena, Ellen, and Allena. Helena married Joseph L. Taylor, son of Martin and Hester Ann Baker Taylor, in 1876. They lived in Bracken County, Kentucky, and had three sons, Hurb "Herd" Bowman Taylor, Clyde Rue Taylor, and Arlo Taylor. Helena died 27 Aug 1914 and is buried in the Sharon Cemetery in Augusta, Bracken County, Kentucky. It is unknown when or where Joseph died.

By the 1870 Census they are living in Williamsburg Township in Clermont County, Ohio. Son Sidney was mayor for the year 1871. Reuben owned property in town, as shown by the map at the right.
Sally passed away 12 Aug 1872 at the age of 58. She is buried in Williamsburg Cemetery alongside her daughter Anna.
Reuben married 32-year-old widow Mary Malvina Woods (maiden name unknown) 18 Mar 1873 in Bracken County, Kentucky.
By 1876, Reuben has relocated to Arnheim in Brown County, Ohio. The map shown at right shows his property at the time.
Reuben and Mary's daughter, Connie was born 23 Sep 1878 and by the time of the 1880 Census, they family is living in the Village of Russellville in Brown County, Ohio.
It is unknown what happened to his wife, Mary Malvina.
By 1885, Reuben was living in Cincinnati. The Directory for 1897 shows him living at 4195 Eastern Avenue with his son, Sidney. Reuben died 30 Mar 1898 and is buried in the Pleasant Ridge Presbyterian Churchyard Cemetery in Pleasant Ridge, Hamilton County, Ohio. He has no grave marker.
Daughter Connie married Stanley McNutt, son of William and Mary Amanda (Jones) McNutt, 14 Sep 1898 in Brown County, Ohio. They had two sons - William Freemont McNutt was born Nov 1899 and Robert Glenn McNutt was born 28 Nov 1902, but the marriage was short-lived as Stanley married Allie Blanche Hanson 28 May 1907 in Bracken County, Kentucky. It is unknown whether they divorced or Connie passed away prior to Stanley's second marriage.
While records indicate that Reuben was born in Ohio, it is unsure WHERE in Ohio. His daughter, Connie's, marriage record states he was born in Hamilton County, Ohio. Research is ongoing to see if he connects with one of the families in the area at the time.
