Andrew Sundin / Röjås Anders Olsson (1881-1948)

Röjås Anders Olsson was born 5 Jun 1881 in Boda, Kopparberg (Dalarna), Sverige (Sweden).

He immigrated to the United States in 1901, departing Gothenburg for Grimsby / Hull aboard the Rollo, and departing Liverpool for Boston aboard the Saxonia.

Andrew married Anna Lena Skantz, daughter of Lars Skantz and Brit Lisa Skoglund, 8 May 1910 in Ontonagon, Ontonagon County, Michigan.  They had at least five children:
-Alma Linea Sundin, born 29 Sep 1910 in Rockland Township, married Anton "Tony" Vespa 9 Oct 1930 in Kingsford, Dickinson County, Michigan.  Alma Linea died 11 Dec 1974 in Green Bay, Brown County, Wisconsin.

-Aina Andrea Sundin, born 9 Jul 1912 in Rockland Township, married Alvin B. Pearson 25 Mar 1933 in Iron Mountain, Dickinson County, Michigan.  Aina Andrea died 29 Mar 1990 in Florence County, Wisconsin.

-Edward Anthony Allord Sundin, born 24 Feb 1914 in Victoria, married Margaret Evelyn Johnson, daughter of Anders "Andrew" and Gerda "Yarda" (Anderson) Johnson, 16 Oct 1939 in Iron Mountain, Dickinson County, Michigan.  Edward died 6 Mar 1993 in Iron Mountain and is buried in Quinnesec Cemetery.

-Elin Anna Sundin, born 11 Sep 1915 in Rockland Township, married William J. Beitel 6 Sep 1935 in Iron Mountain, Dickinson County, Michigan.  She died 27 Jan 1993 in Iron Mountain and is buried in Iron Mountain Cemetery Park.
-Alfred Verner Sundin, born 22 Aug 1927 in Kingsford, Dickinson County, Michigan, married Elain Marie LeGault 2 Sep 1950 in Kingsford.  He died 21 Jun 2001 in Lake Havasu City, Mohave County, Arizona.

Alfred Sundin
LAKE HAVASU CITY, Ariz. - Alfred V. Sundin, 73, of Lake Havasu City, Ariz., died Thursday, June 21, 2001, at his home.

He was born Aug. 22, 1927, in Kingsford.  He married his wife, Elaine on Sept. 2, 1950.  He lived in Neenah, Wis. for 22 years, moved to Texas in 1972 and then moved to Arizona in 1979.

Alfred was a resident of Arizona for 22 years.  He was a motel manager for E-Z 8 Motel in Las Vegas, Nev. for 20 years and LHC for 20 years.

He served as a Merchant Marine from 1945 to 1948.  Alfred was also a wood pattern maker.

He leaves his wife, Elaine M. Sundin of Lake Havasu City, Ariz.; two sons, Dan Sundin of Houston, Texas and Roger Sundin of Temple, Texas; three daughters, Gale Stich of Mesa, Ariz., Jean Ellis of Katy, Texas and Pauline Pitman Moonpark, Calif.; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

A memorial service was held Monday at 1 p.m. at Our Lady of the Lake Roman Catholic church.  Fr. Jorge Gonzales officiated.

Memorials may be made to Cystic Fibrosis Foundation or the Autism Foundation.

The Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home of Lake Havasu City, Ariz. is in charge of arrangements.

Andrew died 18 Nov 1948 in Kingsford, Dickinson County, Michigan, and is buried in Quinnesec Cemetery in Iron Mountain.  Anna Lena, or "Auntie" as she was fondly called by my grandmother, died 12 Jun 1975 in Kingsford and is buried beside Andrew.
