He married Alma Sjöberg, daughter of John Ersson Sjöberg and Johanna Jernberg, around 1889.

Their daughter Alma Victoria was born 18 Jan 1890 in Stora Tuna, Dalarna, Sweden.
Lars, Alma, and baby Alma departed from Göteborg (Gothenburg), Sweden, 19 Sep 1890 aboard the Ariosto
headed for Grimsby / Hull, England.

They departed Liverpool, England, 24 Sep 1890 aboard the Germanic, headed for the Port of New York.

Once they landed in New York, they made their way to Sagola in Dickinson County, Michigan, and Lars found work in the sawmill.
A son, Charles, was born 28 Jul 1891 in Sagola, Dickinson County, Michigan, but died of intestinal catarrh 18 May 1892 at the age of 9 months.
Their daughter Hilda was born 3 Aug 1893 in Sagola Township, Dickinson County, Michigan.
Lars John, Alma, Alma Victoria, and Hilda are enumerated in the Michigan State Census in 1894 living in Dickinson County.  Lars John Anderson is age 30, Alma (Sjoberg) Anderson is age 25, (Alma) Victoria Anderson is age 46 (should be 4), and Hilda is age 10/12.
From the 1986 book by Darryl Ertel, "Sagola's Early Years:  A History of Sagola, Michigan" starting on pg. 145:

"There was another family of Andersons living in Sagola prior to 1894.  It was Lars John Anderson and his wife Alma.  They immigrated from Sweden in 1890.  Lars was born in 1864 and Alma in 1869.  He was an edger in the sawmill.  They had at least four children, three born in Sagola.  They are:  Victoria born in 1889 in Sweden, Charles born July 28, 1891, in Sagola, died May 18, 1892, Hilday born August 3, 1893, and Augusta born May 7, 1895.  Charles was one of the earliest births and deaths in Sagola."

A copy of this book is held at the Dickinson County Library in Iron Mountain, Michigan, and they were kind enough to make an Interlibrary Loan to my local library in Lebanon, Ohio.
Lars John and Alma had more kids before the turn of the century.  Augusta Wilhelmina was born 7 May 1895 in Sagola, followed by Edward born 15 Jan 1898 and William 24 Sep 1899.

The 1900 (U.S. Federal) Census shows the family living in Rockland, Ontonagon County, Michigan, in the area served by the Victoria Mine Post Office, starting on Line 4.

L. John Anderson, head of household, male, white, born May 1863, age 37 years, married for 11 years, born in Sweden, both parents born in Sweden, immigrated in 1890, has been here for 10 years and is a Naturalized Citizen, works as a Miner, can read, can write, and can speak English, owns his own home and it is a house.

Alma Anderson, wife, white, female, born May 1868, age 32 years, married for 11 years, has had 6 children and 5 are living, born in Sweden, both parents born in Sweden, immigrated in 1890, has been here for 10 years, can read, can write, and can speak English.

Hilda Anderson, daughter, white, female, born Jan 1890, age 10 years, single, born in Sweden, both parents born in Sweden, immigrated in 1890, has been here for 10 years, attended school for 9 months and is at school.  This information actually would have been accurate about Hilda's older sister, Alma Victoria, but Hilda was born in Michigan in Aug 1893.

Augusta Anderson, daughter, white, female, born Aug 1892, age 7 years, single, born in Michigan, both parents born in Sweden, attended school for 9 months and is at school.

Edward Anderson, son, white, male, born May 1895, age 5 years, single, born in Michigan, both parents born in Sweden, attended school for 9 months and is at school.

Alma Anderson, daughter, white, female, born Jan 1898, age 2, single, born in Michigan, both parents born in Sweden.  This is Alma Victoria, born Jan 1890, age 10, and born in Sweden.  Errors such as these are not uncommon in census records.

Baby (William) Anderson, son, male, born Sep 1899, age 9/12, single, born in Michigan, both parents born in Sweden.

Louis Moss, boarder, white, male, born 1863, age 37, single, born in Germany, both parents born in Germany, immigrated in 1880, has been here for 20 years and is a Naturalized Citizen, works as a Miner, can read, can write, and can speak English.

Interestingly enough, the next household is Andrew England and his brother Erick.  Hilda's future husband Ole and his brothers lived with Andrew when they first came to Michigan from Sweden in 1904.

Son Harry John was born 4 Aug 1901, followed by Rudolph 17 Mar 1903, and Walter 14 Apr 1907.  Lars and Alma had 8 children in their home then, ranging in age from newborn to 17 years.  Infant son Walter passed away 25 Aug 1907 of cholera infantum.

In April 1909, Lars went missing while working as a Night Watchman for the Michigan Mine.  He was considered crippled from a fall at the mine and had a severe case of rheumatism, or as we call it today, rheumatoid arthritis.  His body was found in June on the shore of the Ontonagon River about a mile downstream from the bridge to the Victoria Mine.  It was believed he committed suicide.  He was buried in Woodlawn Cemetery in Ontonagon, Ontonagon County, Michigan.

ANOTHER GRUESOME FIND.

Body of a Dead Man Found Near Rockland Wednesday.

One of the surveyors at the Michigan Mine was in the vicinity of the Victoria bridge and when about a mile below the bridge found the body of a man which had evidently been drowned and was washed upon the shore of the river.  The authorities were notified and an inquest was held at the place of the finding of the body.  The body was that of Lars Anderson, who has been a resident of Rockland for years and was very well known there and was somewhat acquainted in this place.  Anderson had been missing for about two months and although careful search had been made it was impossible to find the slightest trace of him.  Up to the time he was missed he had been nighwatchman at the Michigan mine.  He was about 45 years old and leaves a wife and family.  Some time ago Anderson had a severe fall at one of the mines and was considerably crippled, and had a very sever complaint of rheumatism, and it is seriously believed that he committed suicide.  The body was in a very decomposed condition and it was necessary to bury it as soon as possible.
