True confession time. I blew it. Big time. I made the ultimate rookie genealogist mistake. I connected someone to the wrong set of parents and to make matters worse, published it on my website. In my defense, when I started working on this, instantaneous online access to census and vital records was not available, and I had yet to learn about proving facts and relationships.
But even when I went back over everything while posting it on the web page, it seemed that evidence pointed to John R. and Ellenor (Williams) Evans being the parents of Richard David Evans.
Except they weren't.
Tom (my hubby) and I recently went on an excursion to do some exploring in Jackson and Gallia Counties. Being the cemetery nut that I am, of course I took along the locations of some of the cemeteries I wanted to see along the way. We managed to fit in quick stops at six of them and took some photos of the markers that caught our attention.
So when I came home, I spent the next several days posting these to my Family Tree Maker and RootsMagic files and to the Find A Grave website. And I started to question some of my original findings on Richard David and John R. and Ellenor. After a few hours of digging, it occurred to me that I was absolutely, incredibly, undeniably WRONG.
Richard David Evans is the son of David D. and Ann (Evans) Evans. So I'm working to correct everything on the website to reflect that.
In the meantime, if you are related and want to access the information on John R. and Ellenor (Williams) Evans, you can find it here:
